We all have something that makes us happy, it can be reading, writing etc., but one of mine is cooking. I get in these moods and cook some fine meals. I don’t like people helping me, I like doing it alone because that makes me happy and it takes me to another world. It help me think, and that’s where I come up with my good ideas and the horrible ones too lol. I have different things I love to cook and I have my go to things to make. I wasn’t always that good but I started to learn by just watching my mom cook as well as other people.
My mom used to let me cook whatever I want on Saturdays under the supervision of someone else. I know a lot of people will read this saying I’m pretty sure she doesn’t cook, because I’ve know her since forever.
I do make some killer foods, my roommate can vouch for me too😝😉. I do have some of hit or miss though. But it never stops me. I cook totally different from everyone else. I add my personal touch. For the holidays I’ll be sharing some amazing recipes from myself and family. My favorite things to eat is seafood, I could eat it all of the time maybe it’s because I’m an island girl. Last week I made Shrimp and broccoli it was so yummy. I made white rice with it too with boiled plantain (Haitian style😉) it was my first time making it like that. What I did was I cooked the shrimp for like 30 minutes and after I sautéed the broccoli for 5 minutes, then I mixed them together. So it’s sautéed shrimp and broccoli.
The ingredients I used were Parsley, pepper, celery, garlic, onions, tomatoes (that I probably used a million of times just because I love the taste of it 😋). I diced my ingredients very small. I like it to be a certain ways.
For the shrimp I add the same thing but a little bit more so it can be tasty.
Maggi (you’ll found it in the farmers market. Will post a picture for those who don’t know)? I don’t use salt just cause of family history. For the oil I used the capsule to get the amount that I want. I don’t like a lot of oil in food.
Rice – heated up the oil I put garlic, and a little of salt, fried a little bit and I add the water (be careful of how much water you had) I let it boil until it’s ready. I wash my rice and I add it. I let it cook until it’s ready you’ll know. Just be careful it doesn’t come out mushy or too hard.
Cooking is my form of therapy, I enjoy cooking for my roommates and some of my family because they are so encouraging. They’ll tell you when you have a miss or what’s missing. I’m all for critics, it just has to be done a certain way. Cooking is another form of art, my love-bugs. With practice makes perfect. I do think you need to enjoy doing it to be really good at it. It asks for a lot of patience. I found cooking to really fun specially while having a glass of wine and listening to some really good music. For me I have special artist to listen to. Its official I am such a weirdo which I like :).
