I’ve met him through my cousin and surprisingly enough he was my neighbor which was crazy to me. But we had a good friendship but I guess things changed when we moved here. Meaning everyone got busy with life but let me just say that I am super proud of my friend. He’s 22 about to be 23 years old and taking the world by storm, nothing makes me more happy than seen my friends who didn’t have it handed it to them doing it right . I am absolutely grateful that he made me the honor of interviewing him for my blog.
Kensley Beaucéjour how would you describe him?
God fearing, confident, modest, hard-worker, risk-taker, self-determined, family oriented, pragmatic.
What have been your life motto and why?
My life motto always been “Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible.”, because I believe if you think of something you can do it.
Would you say FAITH is a big part of your life?
Yes FAITH is major part of my life. “Without faith it’s impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)”
I see that you have a clothing line KOLS, how did you know that’s something you wanted to do? Would you say it’s a passion or it’s because of the money?
I wouldn’t describe KOLS as a clothing line but a brand. KOLS is especially made for the ambitious and the ones that are willing to help others. Our group is into fashion, which explains why we turned it into a clothing line. Our mission is to be able to help our motherland countries a few years from now. The clothing line is our window.
Why name it KOLS? Does it have a meaning?
KOLS was formed by Lyndon Kaba and Skerby Odivin, so it’s their initials, and them and I started the movement.
Every fashion designer are always saying what they hope to express through their lines. Do you have one, if yes. What’s the message you hope to send out through your clothing line?
Inspire yourself, keep building yourself, keep expanding, your mind is your limit.
Would you say your clothing line is affordable to everyone?
Yes, I’d totally say that it’s affordable to everyone.
I see that through your clothing line, you have a foundation. Why associating both of them together?
First off, the brand is broken into multiple parts: KOLS clothing for the clothes, KOLS entertainment for fashion shows/private parties/clubs that we organized or a part of, KOLS music where we have local artists that we manage and help them get exposure, last but not least KOLS foundation where we do charity work/event, sponsor. As I mentioned earlier our mission always been to help our motherland countries and the clothing line is our window.
What’s your foundation is about, (the message, the logo,)? Why did you chose to have one?
The foundation is about providing socio-educational support to families in need. I chose to have one because it’s always been one of my many life goals.
What’s your definition of success and why? Do you think you’ve achieve it so far?
Success has nothing to do what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s about what you do for others because as I stated before, faith is a major part of my life and my way of doing something for God and make Him proud is to do what I can to help the needy, poor, or someone, sick, discouraged, or heartbroken.
Working with people it’s not always great but how did you choose your team? Why did you decide to work with them?
Chose my team by their characters and the similarities that we share. I decided to work with them because they have the same mission as I.
What’s the best advice you can give any young girl/boy who’s trying to start a business or foundation?
Believe in your vision, and stay focused on your goals. And if you really want to get ahead, you’ve got to keep your eyes focused on the path.
Is moving back to Haiti in the card? Do you think there’s any hope for Haiti?
I’m not really sure about where I want to live yet. The best way to change Haiti is to formally educate its people, once that is in order Haiti will be in a much better place.
How would you describe living in the US?
Good and somewhat boring just depends on the environment that you’re in.
What advice you can give someone who move here from another country or any new places for that matter?
Stay out of trouble, remain humble, mind your business, and surround yourself with positive vibes only.
What’s the hardest lesson you’ve learned since living here?
Nothing was hard for me to learn, in anything in life there’s always a process you just have to trust it
What’s next for you? Meaning where do you see yourself in the next few years.
Got a bachelors in construction management at Wentworth Institute of Technology and I’d love to get my masters in business international because in a few years I see myself running a construction company worldwide.
What would you say it’s the ultimate goal for you in life?
My ultimate goal in life is to accomplish all my goals.
3 things people will be surprise to know about you.
I never get mad because I believe everything happens for a reason, being mad is only making things worse for yourself.
I’m only 22, people always think I’m on my late 20’s early 30’s just because of the way I talk and conduct myself.
I’m a nature-loving person.
You seems pretty busy how do you manage to make time for your personal life?
Simple as it sounds, all is included into my time managing system. I also build a support network which combines my personal life with my business life. I basically used my mind to make some affirmations for myself like I be finding my own ways to relax, relieve tension and minimize stress.
Besides working on becoming a business mogul, what do you like to do on your free time? Other interests?
I love and enjoy reading, I like conversing with elderlies, watching movies.
