As I was laying in my bed at 6:07 am, and listening to Closer/ Wrap me in your arm by WILLIAM MC DOWELL, I was also searching on Instagram for ways to improve my blog. That’s when I saw this beautiful picture of this gospel singer and his family; then I have begun to remember of how not too long ago, people were tweeting/ talking bad about them, because they’ve chosen to live their lives in their own way while being unapologetically Christians.
I started wondering. “ What makes people think they are better Christians than others ?” I think that we are too judgmental about how others choose to live their lives; whether they are gospel singers, pastors, or whoever else they might be. It’s crazy to me that people question one’s “FAITH”, or for a second, think theirs are better than another’s.
What makes you a better Christian than I or another person? Is it because you pray more? You don’t drink? Or is it because you are a devoted church person? But in reality, do we truly know if we are better than them? As of now, all we have is a book, written thousands of years ago, that we are following, right? So how do we know that it’s 100% accurate?
My point in all of this is that none of us are better than another. We all want to make our way to heaven. Therefore, my interpretation and yours can surely be totally different.
My life has always been centered around God. That doesn’t mean that I don’t struggle or question the Bible. It happens sometimes. Yet, I still find comfort reading it. Every time I ran away from church, my heart always knew the only way I’ll find the peace I’m looking for is by going to church or reading the Bible. Does that mean I’m not a good Christian enough? I always try to accept everyone and not judge the life that one is leading. That’s why I feel so amazed and confused at the same time by how people are so quick to say negative things about someone just because to them they are not living according to a “Christian” life. I emphasize it because what makes you think you are living one yourself?
1 Corinthians 13 4-5 says:” Love is patient and kind. Love does not envy or boast, it is not arrogant or RUDE.” I find it so rude and disrespectful when people are seating among themselves to judge how people who consider themselves Christians are living. I’m guilty of it too, that used to be me thinking omg you can’t be Christian and do this. But honestly who am I to judge anyone based on how they choose to live their lives?
I hope 2018 brings us true kindness, tolerance, and acceptance towards each other. We must truly learn to coexist with one another. Stop making your sisters or brothers feel bad about their lives. Stop walking around like you are more HOLY than someone based on their lives. Church people have a way of running people off while they don’t live the PUREST life. I’ve always said this MY JOURNEY with GOD is personal, I pick and choose who I talk too about it. I am here to pray for you not judging you.

I’m beginning to realise that there’s a lot of competition in the Christian community online. People act as if the more your following, the more you know God. The more you prophecy, with signs and wonders, the more righteous you are. But they forget that we are supposed to be edifying each other, like Paul did in his letters to the churches at the time, instead of bashing each other online to proof we have more revelation. God help us because we need to be more united than ever!
